Project Design Consultants, working with Hunt Construction Group, performed all survey, heavy construction staking and quality control services on this $450 million dollar, 165-acre construction project.

The stadium’s large-scale design and sustainable building features required precise survey calculations and construction staking – with no margins for errors. Other challenges included the construction of dual, heavyweight Brunel trusses to support North America’s largest retractable roof built to date, and massive vertical glass windows that alternate around the stadium’s exterior skins.  The natural turf playing field was built to be moved in and outdoors for sunlight and is contained within a single, gigantic tray that sits atop 400 wheels and weighs over 13 million pounds.

Due to the project’s complexity, PDC’s survey crews instituted several new and more efficient methodologies that significantly benefited the construction progress for our Client and other subcontractors. In addition, PDC surveyors regularly monitored and disseminated data calculations, relevant scheduling coordination and construction updates.

With a design that evokes the form of a barrel cactus, the stadium can expand it’s seating capacity up to 73,000 to host not only the Cardinals games, but the annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the 2008 Super Bowl, NCAA tournaments, concerts and trade shows.
